What Mealime has announced

Everything on this page about Mealime comes from Mealime’s own closing notice, its help center and its App Store release notes, checked 9 October 2026. The notice opens: “we regret to inform you that Mealime will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026.” In short, it says:

If you shop at an Albertsons Companies store, Meals Hub may be the simplest next step, and Mealime says it still works if you can’t shop there. This page is for people who would rather keep the recipes they cook in a cookbook of their own.

Is there a Mealime export?

Mealime’s notice and help center don’t describe any export or download of recipes, meal plans or grocery lists (checked 9 October 2026). What the help center does describe:

On the Plate & Page side, to be just as clear: it can’t read Mealime files, PDFs or any other app’s export, and it has no bulk import. Moving over means bringing recipes across one at a time. That sounds slow, but most people cook from a short list of favorites, and that list is the one worth starting with.

What to save before 21 October

Do this now rather than in the last few days.

  1. List the recipes you actually cook. Your favorites and your last few meal plans are a good guide.
  2. Save each recipe’s original link. If you imported a recipe into Mealime from a food blog or recipe site, that site is the original, so keep its address. Many of Mealime’s own recipes also have a public page on mealime.com, and the iOS app’s share option gives you the link. Paste all the links into one note.
  3. Copy your own notes. Substitutions, oven quirks and “use half the chili” live in your account, and Mealime says personal data will be deleted. Copy them into a note today.
  4. Print or save as PDF anything you want for reference: recipes from the web app and your current grocery list, as Mealime’s help pages describe.
  5. Take a screenshot of this week’s plan and grocery list, so you can rebuild them without guessing.

Mealime’s own recipes belong to Mealime, and Mealime says they continue in Meals Hub. Bring across the few you cook, one at a time, for your own kitchen, and please don’t use tools that copy recipe sites in bulk.

Bring a recipe into Plate & Page from its web page

Plate & Page is a recipe keeper and meal planner for iPhone, iPad and Mac, from one App Store listing. Plate & Page is not affiliated with Mealime. On iPhone or iPad:

  1. Open the recipe’s original page in Safari.
  2. Tap Share and choose Add to Plate & Page.
  3. Open Plate & Page. The recipe is waiting as a draft.
  4. Check the ingredients, steps and servings, then choose Review and Save.

Working from your note of links? Open the Add Recipe menu, choose Import Recipe, then Web, paste the address and tap Fetch Recipe. On Mac, use File › Import Recipe… (⌘I) or share from Safari. There’s also a Shortcuts action, Import Recipe from URL.

Plate & Page reads the structured recipe data most recipe sites publish. If a page has none, it falls back to the page text, using on-device Apple Intelligence where supported, and labels the draft so you know to check it.

For the notes you copied, choose Text, paste, and tap Structure Text. For recipes that started on paper, up to eight photos from your library are read on your device with Apple Vision and become one recipe. Whatever the source, nothing joins your cookbook until you’ve reviewed and saved it. The guide on how to save recipes from any website covers every method.

How far the free version goes

Honestly: the free version covers five recipes you create and three reviewed imports, for life, not per month. An import counts once, when you save the recipe, and the count is shared across your devices on the same Apple Account. That’s enough to try it with a few favorites. Moving a bigger collection needs Premium, a one-time US$9.99 In-App Purchase with Family Sharing that makes imports unlimited. In the app it reads “Reviewed imports: Free 3 / Premium Unlimited”. There’s more in a recipe app with no subscription.

Rebuilding your weekly plan and grocery list

Mealime plans and lists won’t move anywhere on their own, so rebuild next week from the recipes you’ve brought across, with your screenshot as a guide.

The guide shows how to plan a week and build your grocery list step by step.

Try it free

Bring over three favorites free and cook from them before deciding. See everything it does on the Plate & Page home page, or get it on the App Store.

Questions

When does Mealime shut down?

Mealime’s closing notice says the app “will be discontinued as of October 21, 2026” and that all personal data will be deleted when it shuts down. Save anything you want to keep before then.

Can I export my recipes from Mealime?

Mealime’s notice and help center don’t describe an export or download of recipes, meal plans or grocery lists. They do describe printing a recipe from the web app, printing the grocery list, and sharing a recipe from the iOS app.

Can Plate & Page import my Mealime recipes?

Not as a file. Plate & Page can’t import an export from Mealime or any other app, and there’s no bulk import. Bring recipes over one at a time from their original web page, or paste the text from your own notes. Each one opens as a draft you review before saving.

Will Mealime refund my Pro subscription?

Mealime’s notice doesn’t mention refunds. It says Pro subscribers won’t be charged any additional subscription fees before Mealime is discontinued on 21 October 2026, and its App Store release notes say current Pro subscriptions will not renew.

Is Plate & Page free?

It’s free to start, with five recipes you create and three reviewed imports for life, not per month. Premium is a one-time US$9.99 In-App Purchase with Family Sharing and makes imports unlimited. It needs iOS 18 or later on iPhone and iPad, or macOS 15 or later on Mac.

Is Plate & Page part of Mealime?

No. Plate & Page is an independent recipe app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and it is not affiliated with Mealime.
